Maurene Burrell-Harris, MPA was born in the city of Newark, NJ. She is a wife and a daughter to parents who are natives of Jamaica, West Indies. Maurene has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in the dual majors of Criminal Justice and Sociology. In addition, she went on to earn a Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA) with a concentration in Leadership of Public Organization. Both degrees were acquired from Rutgers University. 

Maurene believes in the power of advocating for the voiceless, service and giving back to the community. It is her desire to leave a lasting impact that will have an effect on current and generations to come.

Maurene's contribution to the book "Daddy's Girl: The Waiting Game" will make her a first-time published author. Her inspiration for writing her chapter was for personal healing and to open the door to conversations of healing and growth from childhood experiences.
